Good Morning Cape Town

Cape Town is a vibe. The world knows it. Voted ‘best city in the world’ by several magazines across the years for travel, food and design.

The location promotes an outdoors culture with Lion’s Head and Table Mountain provide world-class activities right on its doorstep.

But this blog post isn’t an advertisement for the city.

It’s a personal memoir of my deep appreciation for what is culturally available to us here at home in South Africa.

These photos are all from a brief visit.

A side quest with an unlikely friend - Bo. He once asked me for advice: “People ask who I am, how do I answer with more agility?” I loved the way this question was phrased. “Chinese/Canadian” I suggested, though there is so much more to Bo than just that. He could just as fairly answer “Criminal Psychologist, eclectic individual, lover of all things quality, adventurous spirit, inherently, self-admittedly lazy; obsessed with leather, cameras and convenient food…”

…And Coke Zero. Never have I seen a man live on Coke Zero and instant ramen alone. Bo travelled in a Land Rover he bought from me into the unfamiliar territory of the deserts of Namibia with vast quantities of these two supplies alone. I feel this photo is aptly staged.
